The Apartment of Mine

As a housewife, besides cleaning home & cooking, I love to watch TV show hahahaaa... Alhamdulillah not sinetron. I love to watch The Apartment, a design contest of decorating rooms in a house. I found the show was soooo interesting as the amateur designer contestants are so creative! Given limited time & budget, they created breathtaking rooms.
Well lately after living in our own home, me & hubby spent our time & money to fill the house. It's been an exciting process & sooo fun! I felt like we're The Apartment contestants :))
Here are some photos of me being an amateur interior designer of our home sweet home:
Dining room ala cafe
Dining Table: Informa / Artificial flowers: Mangga Dua / Table Runner: from antislip material, DIY

A very cozy living room
Sofa bed: Informa / White Wall Shelf: Ace Hardware / Wall Sticker: Pelangishop.com / Square Cushion: DIY / Round Cushion: Mangga Dua

Okay that's it for now, I don't have many pictures... It's all from my cellphone, I've uploaded them to my instagram :))
Oh yeah my home is filled with Informa's products. Been surveying here and there (malls, Klender, online, ...) and Informa's stuffs fits us the best (in design & budget)

In filling this house, I stick to a limited color palette: white, dark brown/dark grey, wood color, and a touch of lime green (and a very little bit of fuchsia). I do want to paint my walls in a more vibrant color, but that's another story ;)

What To Bring: 5 Days Winter Travel

Playing with polyvore to create a minimalist belongings for 5 days winter tour (winter apparel is HEAVY so bring as less as possible!!! >_<) and this is it!! The most basic items which probably I'll bring to survive the cold winter:

For 5 days, mix them into these:

Well I'll probably bring those kind of items (not the exact items like in the picture -- they're expensive!!): creme down jacket for snowy days, black coat, 2 sweaters, 3 shawls, one black boots, one bag. I hope they will fit into my luggage & can be worn everyday as if I changed my cloth everyday (secret of winter trip: you will not sweat, so it's okay to wear clothes more than once :p)

Update: just bought myself a plain black down (bulu angsa) jacket from Mangga Dua, which is sooo warm but I do look like a PILLOW! Yaaaa, daripada kedinginan yeeee.... So bye bye stylish black coat...

I wonder why my choices of clothing is so... boring. No splash of colors, just the neutrals. No cute accent, just the basic. I have a belief that I should have the basic first that is safe which can be used in any occasion, no brave enough to wear too stylish items O_o

How Many Bags do We Need?

In my effort to become more minimalist, recently I sort my bags to (A): ones I really use & (B): ones I seldom use, ones I don't remember having, ones that have torn, and ones that make me uncomfortable wearing it. Although the bag was a gift or was my favorite, the (B) bags need to be let go. I shall not hold onto the memories (well, my closet won't), so I should only hold to what I really need.

I realize, as women, we "need" more items than man (well, man can go to mall / wedding party / wherever without bag!). These are items I think I need, and I'll keep. This list can be different for you, depending our activity ;)

a. Casual Everyday Bag - the go to bag that can be used everyday without fear to be torn, lightweight enough, can be used everyday & can hold anything from clutters to books. I have 2 colors: Black & Creme Gold (for clothes & shoes that don't do with black bag). I'll show you why I need more than one casual bag:

I think this outfit won't look good if I only have a cream bag

b. Semi formal bag - maybe a more expensive bag... You know, for attending events such as seminars / dinner / whenever I need to appear more... serious? I actually have 2, too. One is a gift: leather longchamp I rarely use because it's quite expensive (I never have pricey items!) & I am always in fear whenever I use expensive things x_x, and one is Fufu, a local brand I bought for seserahan & its handle is broken but I haven't fixed it.

c. A clutch - for wedding party, that can hold your cellphone, tissue, lipstick, oil paper & some money!
I have two clutch actually, a cheap silver clutch & a camel colored leather clutch which is a gift.

d. A small cheap bag for going to pasar/market

e. A laptop bag / working bag - to be used when I need to go to work. I opted for a backpack from Hellolulu, because the brand offers casual colorful laptop bags. Been eyeing that brand but it's quite expensive. Luckily I'm Zalora member... When my birthday came, they gifted me with a discount voucher and I used it to buy my laptop bag :))

Laptop bag, semi formal 1 & semi formal 2 :p

Online shopping at Zalora saves my time. They provide lots of brand (local & international), various items from fashion to beauty, and the "free shipping" makes it cheaper than going to mall (no fuel / taxi & no need to buy snacks I always want each time I go to mall :))). I can easily browse product I want, what color I'd like, and range of price I'd pay. Actually my first experience shopping at Zalora was buying a few makeup items for my wedding seserahan, hehehehe.. Visit www.zalora.co.id and enjoy shopping without hassle :D

Well, becoming minimalist doesn't mean you will never go shopping again, but to shop wisely to what you need, or what's missing in your closet to create countless styles in minimum items ;)
Actually I thought I don't have enough bags, but after making this list, I realize I already have all I need (maybe more than enough!). If one bag is torn, then it's time to replace. Otherwise, no shopping is needed ;)

TIPS to have minimum number of bags: Stick with a color palette in your closet. For me, as long as I have black and brown, it can match with all of my outfits. Same goes with shoes! (Maybe your color palette is neon or pastel, you don't really need to have black or brown)

PS: I forgot to list luggage & travel bag!!!

Traveling: Dutch Lady

Assalamu'alaikum...

Winter jacket: Zara - beli di Toko Djohan Mangga Dua (tulisannya sih pake down filling a.k.a diisi bulu angsa. Anget!)
Kaos tunik garis coklat - dipake sejak backpacking 2011, kaos andalan karena nyaman & pajang selutut

Jedeeerrr.. Foto keluarga!

Abis nimbang "snack"nya, kakak ipar ternyata kudu bayar 20 Euro a.k.a sekitar Rp 250 ribu. Hweeeee....

Wahhh pengeeen!!

Backpacking: Kuala Lumpur and Group Photo Ideas

Assalamu'alaikuum...

Ahhh sayangnyaaa...

Putrajaya, will always be memorable :")

Trip Itinerary: Jum'at siang sampai Malaysia, Minggu pagi balik ke Indonesia (gara-gara ada perubahan jadwal pesawat tuh =__=" awalnya, balik Minggu sore)

Rencana awal:
1. Jum'at pagi sampai KL langsung ke Genting

Ihhhh ternyata Putrajaya keren abisss!!! Ga rugi deh ke sana ;)

FIRST DAY TRAVEL JOURNAL

Cari Hostel Go Show di Kuala Lumpur

BTW kami belum pesan hostel loh!
Tips: Sebelum transaksi, rayu front desk hotel supaya mau nunjukin kamarnya dulu. Menghindarkan kita dari milih hotel creepy & lembab :P

Rombongan cewek menginap di hotel New Winner, sekamar isi 3 orang, kamar mandi dalam, bersih & nyaman. Kalau nggak salah, di-kurs-kan jadi sekitar Rp 300ribu saja sekamarnya (more review? Baca terus sampe bagian hari kedua yaaa).

Okelah langsung budhaaal!

Kelaparan di Genting Highland

Ternyata, ke Genting pas long weekend itu cari perkara. Selepas menempuh 1-2 jam perjalanan naik bus, kami tiba di terminal tempat naik cable car. Nggak ada restoran! Melihat antrian cable car mengular panjaaaang banget, ini alamat bakal kelaparan. Nemu minimarket, kami beli-beli cemilan dulu buat ngganjal perut. Plus beli mi instan cup. Cuma kami yang ngantri sambil nyebul-nyebul mi (semoga ga melanggar hukum yah).

Captured by Mirsa's camera

Also Mirsa's camera

Setelah 1,5 jam ngantri (iya emang rame banget!), akhirnya kami naik cable car juga. Alhamdulillah!

Tapi belum tentu mereka jago pegang kamera 'kan? Foto ini diambilnya pake tripod + timer. Usahakan pose berdirinya acak (nggak sejajar) supaya nggak monoton :p

Pukul 8 malam kami berniat pulang go-show, belum beli tiket cable car + bus. Taxinya gede, kayak mobil innova gitu (maap pengetahuan permobilan saya sangat kurang). Dipikir-pikir, mending agak mahalan dikit deh daripada ngantri lagi. Capeeek...

Di perjalanan pulang naik taxi, kami lihat Batu Caves dan patung Buddha emas-nya di sisi kanan jalan, tersorot lampu jadi memancar emasnya :"> Wahhh lumayan pemandangannya bagusss, jadi besok ga usah ke Batu Caves yaaa hihihiii....

SECOND DAY TRAVEL JOURNAL

Riding on a Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour

Sebelum menulis perjalanan hari kedua, saya mau cerita dulu: ternyata hotel New Winner itu menyediakan kamar jam-jaman sodara-sodaraaa... Tau kan, semacam tempat buat orang begitu-begitu kali ya O_o Jam 5 pagi suami bawain tasku dari My Hotel (maklum lah kami pakai 1 backpack), dan kami terkaget-kaget karena jam segitu banyak cewek-cewek seliweran keluar masuk hotel pake hotpants zzzzz. "Kalo kamar kita kan single bed buat tiga orang, aman lah yaaa," kata si Novi pas kuceritain tentang 'pemandangan pagi itu'. Kalo bagian lama-nya, memang agak creepy...

Yasudahlah. Mari kita lanjutkan ke seneng-senengnya. Di jalan Tun Sambanthan (sekitar hotel) banyak kedai-kedai makanan, kami sarapan roti cane + teh tarik di sana. Senangnyaaa makan masakan lokal ketika backpacking :D

Taken by Adhit's phone

Kami jalan ke KL Sentral, salah satu tempat pemberhentian bus Hop On Hop Off: bus wisata dimana kita bisa ngatur sendiri itinerary-nya.

Foto grup ala Runningman
Di luar KL Sentral, dekat tempat pemberhentian bus.
Tips Foto Grup: Bergaya ala running man!

Next KL trip kudu dipuas-puasin Hop On Hop Off dehhh!

Dataran Merdeka Kuala Lumpur
Foto grup di tengah-tengah Dataran Merdeka

KL City Gallery. Masuknya gratis! Dalamnya juga kereeeen!

Puas keliling KL City Gallery di Dataran Merdeka, kami jalan kaki menuju Pasar Seni. Lumayan dekat, cukup 10-20 menit saja.

Putrajaya, Kota Masa Depan

It was THE BEST DECISION we made :)

Untuk yang pertama kali mau ke KL, I truly recommend Hop On Hop Off, Dataran Merdeka, and Putrajaya :)

Aamiin ^^

Fashion Pasta and La Rucola

Tried Fashion Pasta at Bandung - Dago Pakar. Yeah the restaurant's name includes "fashion" on it. So I supposed, it's a place for cool people to hangout heheheh.. My thought before going there: "Oh my, I'm not fashionable enough to go there.." *halah* :))

Hubby ordered Pesto Spaghetti (for ones who love the taste of basil, they must love pesto!) and me... pizza. He's happy with his pesto.

Errrr how can I eat all of these?
Anyway we share our food. Because pizza is for sharing, right? And it's kinda boring to eat the whole pizza all alone.

Fancy interior!

Cool ambience at night.

Anyway as pasta lover, we love Surabaya's La Rucola italian restaurant. Interior was authentic as like in Italy (nothing fancy, just cozy & classic).
Taste was delicious, and made of high quality ingredient (my mom told me that it's all tasted fresh - well, she's been in culinary business for years so I believed her)

All enjoy the dishes!

Grilled salmon, very tempting!

Feels like passing through real bistro in Italy :D
La Rucola is quite pricey but it worth the price. If you're a true pasta lover, I suggest you to go there ;)

Pastels for Akad Ceremony (Guest)

Assalamu'alaikum :D
Today is the last day of Ramadhan, eh? I'm sorry for all mistakes I've done yaaa, either it is mis-spelling or wrong grammar or maybe my posts has caused a pain for you :')

BTW last June I attended one of my best friend's akad ceremony, in Surabaya's Grand Mosque.
What I wore: chiffon top (Mangga Dua), square hijab (Mangga Dua), pleated skirt (Icons) - well yeah I owned this skirt since 2 years ago and you've seen it a lot in this blog ;)

Soooo happy to meet college besties!!

Barakallah, Dayat & Sasha!

BTW have you tried the famous Bebek Sinjay (Sinjay fried duck) in Madura?? I haven't been there (to Madura). Luckily Sinjay opened its branch in Surabaya. After the ceremony, me & friends go to KAZA City (Kapas Krampung - Surabaya) to taste the delicious duck. WOWWWW it's yummyyyyy I wanna eat it again :P
People say, in Madura, Sinjay's car park is always full, and you're lucky if you can buy the fried duck because it's sold out fast, with long queue.
In KAZA City food court, buying Sinjay duck was just a breeze. Service was fast, and they had lots of stock. Alhamdulillah, after 13 years living in Surabaya (and already moved to Jakarta now), I've tasted Sinjay =___=

And now, my Surabaya Culinary checklist I haven't done is:
Sego Sambel Mak Yeye (Madam Yeye's Chili Rice)
Nasi Goreng Jancuk (**** Fried Rice - super hot)

My Fave Surabaya Culinary I always look forward when I go to Surabaya:
Lontong Mie Ny. Marlia - Ps. Atum (Madam Marlia Rice Noodle - errrr I don't know how to translate this food to English :)))))
Fried Duck - basically any fried duck in Surabaya is DELICIOUSSSS

*Puasa-puasa kok ngomongin makanan*

Minimalism in Fashion Blogging?

Assalamu'alaikum :)

Cewek-cewek blogger tampaknya selalu pake baju/aksesoris baruuuu terus. Bikin kita kepengen juga rasanya.

Sempet datang masa-masa dimana saya 'merasa butuh' beli baju baru hanya demi pengen bikin postingan baru (fakta lho, hahahaha).
We can get inspired by real people. Real girl wearing their real clothes. Akhir-akhir ini, bloggers looked so perfect! It's like seeing advertising/catalog.

Pengen deh menerapkan gaya hidup minimalis.

Flower Covered

Assalamu'alaikum..
Selamat menunaikan ibadah puasaaaa ^^
Marhaaban yaa Ramadhan

This dress, actually, was a mistake. I asked a tailor to make a simple sleeveless maxi dress, but it turned out like a daster a.k.a sleeping gown with all flowers over my body, and ruffles on the chest.
Well, to be covered by all-flowers was too much for me, so I covered the flower with a simple white outer :p

Soon it will be a DIY project. I'm planning to cut the dress into a skirt & flower outer/jacket.

5 Minutes Makeup & Hijab

Assalamu'alaikum :D

Heheheee who likes watching makeup tutorials on YouTube? Lately I like to watch Michelle Phan's & Pearypie's videos (they edited their videos professionally!) and other beauty gurus as well...

Some kind of fun-to-watch videos is: Makeup challenges! Whether it is 3 or 5 minutes make up challenge, 20 dollar beauty products makeup challenge, or no-mirror makeup challenge :))

Here's my effort to 5 minutes makeup & hijab for party... it's when you're in a rush or you're husband is waiting and asking you to be prepared quickly....
Failed =__=
(no shading & eye makeup is not good enough)
Errr... but 5 minutes IS DEFINITELY NOT ENOUGH for a girl to be ready, yes??

The Lifestyle Inflation

Salaam... I've just read an interesting article about how people usually treat their raised salary. How bigger income make us think we're richer and we can buy more expensive stuffs... but in the end, we have nothing left to save.
Well yes this article is true:
Sometimes a boost in income is almost like a switch in the brain. Suddenly, the car you drove so proudly looks like an old tin rattle bucket, and the $1 burritos you shared with friends are thrown aside for fancier fare. The thing is, when you think back to the days in your life when you were happiest or had the most fun, those memories are probably completely unrelated to what you were wearing, driving, or how much money you were spending. Chances are, they probably had more to do with where you were in life and who you were with.
Here's the full article, it's very insightful :)

Note for myself:
In college I'd be happy going out with my friends for Rp 7.700 KFC meal package (less than $1 for rice, chicken, and coke)... but now, we'd go for a fancier and pricier place to eat. Ahhh we should keep being humble, yes? -well, I'm not saying that we should eat KFC.. we need to eat healthily but not too expensive
I used to have only 1 or 2 pair of shoes in college, and only one bag which I used everyday... Once they're getting torn, I replaced them. Life would be easier that time, because nothing would be 'left in the other bag' :))
Keep humble keep humble keep humble...

Colors I Have The Most

Assalamu'alaikum... I hope you all in good condition ^^

Do you have any particular color & style which you always bought or go to 'unconsciously'?
Well, I do have. I usually attracted in bluish or brownish color when I go to clothes store. And when I sort my closet, wowwww there's a big pile of blue and brown! Why do I always buy that color? =_=

Anyway, here's my new cardigan from mother (it's BLUE! I always attract blue color to come to me :p)
And a new bag from parent in law (BROWN! And I love it :D)
With my cotton.ink maxi dress bought at 2010, still in good condition ^^

Well, I just can't move on from chocolate & blue :p

Village in Town

One Sunday noon, me, husband & in laws went to Sentul City, Bogor to eat at its famous "Pasar Apung".

But Pasar Apung was too crowded, we didn't see any parking lot available. Then we headed to Desa Gumati. The road was berkelok-kelok & berliku-liku, and people may not know there's a hidden tranquil place there... Welcome to Desa Gumati.

There's a restaurant, outbound park & resort (well, thinking of a nearby honeymoon? You can go there hihihihii)

Lucky number! Food was okay, not the best seafood restaurant in town, but place was good.

Fun Sunday! For someone who sees buildings & cars & traffic jam everyday, surely this is a nice place to go :)
